Chocolate Flan Cake

Also called: “choco flan cake” or  “2 in 1 cake”


1 1/2 cup sugar

4 eggs
2 1/2 cup powder milk
1 cup sugar
3 cups water
1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)
1 teaspoon orange zest (optional)
1 teaspoon Vanilla

Chocolate cake:
3 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup liquid milk
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
1 teaspoon orange zest (optional)




Caramel Preparation:
Cook the sugar in a non-stick pan until it turns brown and pour it over the cake pan and its edges

Preparation of custard:
Mix all the ingredients then pour the mixture into the pan with caramel and leave it in the fridge until the cake preparation is done

Preparation of the cake:
Beat the eggs, sugar, vanilla, and lemon zest. Then, add the oil, milk, cocoa, flour, baking powder. Mix everything and then add it over the custard.

Fill a deep oven tray with hot water, then put the pan in it. Place in a 180 °C oven for 50 to 55 minutes or till the top is dry. You can also put aluminum foil on top of the cake pan.

Remove the cake from the oven and then from the hot water and let it cool down. Cover it with cling film and put it in the fridge for at least 8 hours (a day or two before serving is even better). To serve, turn over into serving plate.
